What is Body Language?

Understand Body Language

Body language is a form of mental and physical ability of human non-verbal communication, which consists of body posture, gestures, facial expressions, and eye movements. Humans send and interpret such signals almost entirely subconsciously.

Body language may provide clues as to the attitude or state of mind of a person. For example, it may indicate aggression, attentiveness, boredom, relaxed state, pleasure, amusement, and intoxication, among many other cues.

OBSERVE:
Some experts say that seventy percent of communication is in body language. We observe mannerism, body positions and facial expression.

Here are some thoughts starters on listening.

1.    Concentrate on what the customer is saying
2.    Ask questions to draw him/her out or to make sure you completely understand his or her thoughts.
3. Observe his/her body language.
4. Don't be in a hurry to answer questions; give him/her time to reconsider what he/she has just said.
5. Write down points as he or she speaks.
6. Take a real interest in him/her and his/her problems.
7. Listen for him/her to tell you why he/she will consider buying.
8. Make listening a habit. Listening and observing are fine tuners to effective presentations.

The Art of Better Communication

Many sales people are not aware the importance of good communication skills and listening skills. Here I got you some very basic  information that you ought to remember always when you are in face to face communication with people.
 
LISTENING:
The most neglected part in teaching the techniques of presentation is to emphasize the art of listening as part of effective communication. in fact sales presentation is part of communication. There are formulated techniques of presentation into a logical step-by-step story.

TELLING:
Telling is not communicating with empathy. The army drill instructor needs no feedback, he merely wants obedience and he has the advantage that his audience is purely captive. As a salesman your audience will be as varied as there are people in the world. Your audience can choose whether to take part in the communication or not and it's your responsibility to tune into his wave length. If he's agitated or unsure it's no use continue to talk like a machine. The other person will block you out, he may even be looking at you and nodding his head in apparent and appearing to go along with you but he may not even be listening.

A CAR BUYER WAS CHEATED RM6,500 in SHAH ALAM

Harian Metro reported on 3 February 2012  that a car seller in Shah Alam cheated a buyer of RM6,500 promised to deliver the new Proton Saga  value RM46,000.00 after the Chinese New Year. But since the car salesman had disappeared and the car buyer had filed the police report.

Again and again, it was reported continously in Malaysia that there are many irresposible car salesmen had cheated a number of car buyers. Some reported that the car sealer had even ran away with the BMW's value RM145,000.00  by paying a deposit of RM10,000.00.

So, on that point I like to highlight  that to avoid being cheated in the future, just be careful.
